Biography

Sonya joined Norwest in 2011 and brings more than 20 years of investment experience to her role as General Partner and co-head of the firm’s Growth Equity team. Based in Norwest’s Menlo Park office, Sonya focuses on growth equity and buyout investing across a wide range of sectors, with particular interest in consumer products and services, internet/e-commerce, retail, and business services.


Her current investments include Aesthetic Partners, Babylist, Divi, Face Reality, Lyra Collective, Jolyn, Madison Reed, MAËLYS, MTN OPS, and Poolwerx. Sonya is also responsible for Norwest’s investments in Kendra Scott (recapitalized by Berkshire Partners), PCA Skin (acquired by Colgate-Palmolive), The Learning Experience (acquired by Golden Gate Capital), Junk King (acquired by Neighborly), and SmartSign (acquired by Sentinel).


Before Norwest, Sonya was at Summit Partners, a private equity firm managing $20 billion, for almost a decade. Prior to Summit, she was a founder and General Partner of iXL Ventures in 1999, where she oversaw the funding and growth of various technology and internet companies. Sonya holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Northwestern University and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
