GrowthCap’s RJ Lumba spoke with Mark Gormley on July 2, 2025. Mark is a Partner at Lee Equity Partners, a middle-market private equity firm focused on the financial and healthcare services sectors. He joined the firm in 2006 and previously was a Partner and co-founder of Capital Z Financial Services Partners, a Managing Director at Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette, and a founding member of the Insurance Group at Merrill Lynch.

Mark Gormley, Partner

Mark Gormley is a Partner on the Financial and Healthcare Services teams.

Prior to joining the firm in 2006, Mark was a Partner and co-founder of Capital Z Financial Services Partners, where he played a leading role in the operations and investment activities of the $5B+ fund complex and shared responsibility for overseeing all the firm’s investment and monitoring activities. Mark was previously a Managing Director at Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette and a founding member of the Insurance Group at Merrill Lynch.

Mark is actively involved with several nonprofit organizations including the Board of Trustees of St David’s School and the Latin American Advisory Board of Conservation International. He holds a B.S.B.A. in Finance and Economics from the University of Denver and an M.B.A. from New York University.

Benjamin Hochberg, Partner

Ben Hochberg is a Partner and leads the Portfolio Solutions team.

Prior to joining the firm in 2006, Ben was a Principal at Odyssey Investment Partners, LLC, and at Bain Capital, where he was involved with and led multiple private equity investments across various industries. He was also a member of the team that founded Bain Capital Credit. He began his career at Bain & Company as a Strategy Consultant where he served North American corporate clients on growth strategy, M&A and divestitures and cost management.

Ben is a 20-year rider in the Pan-Mass Challenge to benefit the Dana-Farber Cancer Center. He is a member of the board of directors at White Plains Hospital and The Jewish Communal Fund. He holds an A.B. in Chemistry from Harvard College and an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School.

Yoo Jin Kim, Partner 

Yoo Jin Kim is a Partner on the Healthcare Services team.

Prior to joining the firm in 2006, Yoo Jin was a Principal at Bain Capital, where he spent over a decade in the North American Private Equity group across the Boston and New York offices. He was involved in several successful growth buyouts, including Domino’s Pizza, Integrated Circuit Systems, Stream International, Innophos and Wesley Jessen VisionCare. He began his career as a strategy consultant at Corporate Decisions, Inc., focused on growth strategies for clients in business services and healthcare.

Yoo Jin has been involved with several nonprofit organizations including as a current Board of Trustees at The Hockaday School, the Advisory Board to the Dartmouth College Fund Committee, and former Board of Trustees of Grace Church School. He holds an A.B. in Biochemistry from Dartmouth College, where he graduated magna cum laude and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa, and an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School.

Joseph Rotberg, Partner

Joe Rotberg is a Partner and serves as Chief Financial Officer and Chief Compliance Officer of the firm.

Prior to joining the firm in 2006, Joe was a Partner and Chief Financial Officer of Mercer Management Consulting (now Oliver Wyman), where he oversaw all financial functions including accounting operations, financial reporting, treasury and tax across more than 50 offices in 25 countries. He previously served as Regional Controller and later Worldwide Director of Internal Audit at Booz Allen Hamilton. Earlier in his career, Joe worked as an Analyst and Accountant at Salomon Brothers and began his professional career at Coopers & Lybrand (now PricewaterhouseCoopers).

He holds a B.S. in Accounting from the School of Professional Accountancy at the C.W. Post Center of Long Island University, where he graduated cum laude. He is a Certified Public Accountant (NY-Active) and a member of the American Institute of CPAs and the New York State Society of CPAs.

Christian Chauvet, Partner

Christian Chauvet is a Partner on the Healthcare Services team.

Prior to joining the firm in 2014, Christian was a management consultant at McKinsey & Company, where he advised clients across a range of strategic and operational topics.

He holds a B.A. in Government from Harvard College, where he graduated magna cum laude.

Mark Mauceri, Partner

Mark Mauceri is a Partner on the Financial Services team.

Prior to joining the firm in 2015, Mark was a Senior Associate at Corsair Capital. He began his career as an Analyst with UBS Investment Bank in the Financial Institutions Group.

He holds a B.A. in Economics from the College of William and Mary.

Daniel Rodriguez, Partner

Danny Rodriguez is a Partner on the Financial Services team.

Prior to joining the firm in 2009, Danny was an Analyst at Morgan Stanley in the Financial Institutions Group, where he focused on M&A and capital raising transactions across the sector.

He holds a B.A. in Economics and Spanish with a minor in Managerial Studies from Vanderbilt University, where he graduated summa cum laude.

Collins Ward, Partner 

Collins Ward is a Partner on the Healthcare Services team.

Prior to joining the firm in 2006, Collins was a Senior Associate Consultant at Bain & Company in the Private Equity Practice, where he advised clients on due diligence and portfolio strategy.

He holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering with a minor in Economics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and was selected as a US Fulbright Scholar in Engineering in Germany. Collins earned his M.B.A. from Harvard Business School, graduating with high distinction as a Baker Scholar.

Thomas Holdstein, Partner

Thomas Holdstein is a Partner on the Financial Services team.

Prior to joining the firm in 2016, Thomas was an Associate at Oliver Wyman, where he focused on strategy and risk consulting for financial institutions. He holds a B.S. in Finance from Cornell University, where he graduated magna cum laude.

Funds Raised

Lee Equity’s latest fundraise for Fund IV was oversubscribed and including the General Partner commitment achieved its hard cap with total capital commitments of approximately $1.3 billion, exceeding the $1.0 billion target. Fund IV added a diverse group of global investors including family offices, private and public pensions, fund of funds, sovereign wealth funds and insurance companies. Fund IV continues the firm’s nearly two-decade history of investing in and partnering with middle market, growth-oriented companies. Fund IV will continue Lee Equity’s strategy of partnering with founders, entrepreneurs, and management teams to build market leading companies in the financial and healthcare services sectors.
