Capital Responsibility

Insight believes that a proactive approach to ESG management is consistent with its fiduciary duty and its goal to achieve superior risk-adjusted returns for its investors. Moreover, Insight generally believes that innovative software and technology, which is the focus of its investment strategies, will play a critical role in advancing a more sustainable and prosperous future. While Insight does not consider ESG factors as determinative in its investment decisions and may make investments that are inconsistent with ESG considerations, Insight has adopted an ESG Policy to establish its commitment to responsible investment and to articulate its approach to integrating ESG considerations throughout the investment process. Insight’s ESG policy was originally developed in 2015 and is regularly reviewed and updated, as appropriate. In addition, Insight is a signatory of ILPA Diversity in Action and has committed to participate in the ESG Data Convergence Initiative.

At the firm-level and throughout the investment life cycle, Insight frequently leverages its 5+ year partnership with Malk Partners, a recognized subject matter expert, to conduct ESG due diligence, ongoing monitoring of the portfolio, ESG reporting to Insight LPs, and ESG training for Insight investment professionals. Where feasible and appropriate, Insight seeks to assess ESG risks and opportunities during confirmatory due diligence and to monitor ESG performance. For each portfolio company in which the firm invests, Insight considers various mechanisms, such as board-level oversight in cases where Insight has board seats, to monitor and influence its portfolio companies’ management of ESG issues. Overseeing Insight’s commitment to ESG is the firm’s ESG Committee, which includes Insight’s COO, General Counsel, Chief Compliance Officer, and others. Insight also has a full-time employee managing the firm’s ESG program on a day-to-day basis.
