Biography

As head of THL Partners’ Technology & Business Solutions group (TABS) and a member of the firm’s Management Committee, Jim has helped drive THL’s evolution from a pioneer in middle-market consumer buyouts in the 1990s to its current position as a leader in middle-market software investing. Under Jim’s direction, THL launched the firm’s two Automation Funds, with a focus on horizontal and vertical software and hybrid software-hardware technologies. The firm believes that these two cross-sector funds are the first middle-market investment vehicles dedicated specifically to automation. In his joint capacity, Jim helps direct the firm’s cross-vertical software initiatives, which include software investments in subsectors specific to THL’s core investment areas.

Jim is currently a director of Auction.com, Autostore, Brooks Automation, and Fortna, and a board observer at inRiver and Kinexon. Before joining THL, Jim worked at Goldman Sachs in the Financial Institutions Group. He also serves as a Trustee on The Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary, having served on the Board of Directors for 10 years.
